Little Miss Sunshine is about a (really) disrupted family, who has a little 7 years old girl name Olive, who learns that she got the opportunity to be a part of the Little Miss Sunshine beauty contest. The beauty pageant is being held in Redondo Beach, CA, in two days. Since the family of course is not rich, they all took their broken down van on a road trip.
From this road trip everyone learns about being supportive and being there for one another -- being a family. But of course, many things happened on the road trip, like Olive's older brother, Dwayne, learning that he's color blind, and not only that but, their grandpa died and they wrapped him up and stuck him in the back of the van. As they got to the beauty pageant place, Olive was rejected, just due to being seconds late, but then one of the worker was willing to add her in the list, making them right on time. As Olive prepares herself for the stage, he family finds that their Olive is different -- plain, and not glamourous like the others. They still let her go on stage supporting her. As it came to where the contestants shows their talents, Olive enters stage showing them a dance that her grandpa showed her, everyone in the audience were in shock, but her family still stood up cheering her on. As they were leaving the building, they were told to never ever enter Olive into any of their pageants. And so they all left back home.

My Thought(s):

In my opinion I thought that this film was really funny. It's the kinds of things that is done in there that are just wacky, like the pushing of the van and smuggling a dead body into the back of the van. I recommend the film to anyone who wants to see a funny family.

The King's Speech - A Review

From Beginning to End (A Summary):

This film is about a king, the one and only King George the III. Ever since growing up he had always have stutter speech. Therefore after a big speech that he gave to the public and broadcast, he went for help, seeking speech therapist. King George indeed found one, more like his wife found one, but this therapist was unlike any other therapist. The therapist welcomed the king as he was not the king at all, seeing that they were all equal status, friends.

This therapist helped King George through his tough times of giving speech. Through trainings and regular meet ups, they became really good friends. The therapist opened the king's eyes to the world of not needing to be afraid, to have a voice and overcome all fears.

Thoughts:

This is a touching film ever made in 2010. I recommend that this film should indeed be watch. It brings in the culture of Britian, the bonds among friends and families; a voice that conquers  all fears.

Little Otik - A Review

From Beginning to End (A Summary):

This film is set in Czech Republic. This film was filmed based off of a folk tale that is similar to the works of the Grim Brothers.

This film is about a married couple who does not have any kids, but are eager to have one at least. Of course the wife becomes a bit crazy. One day at their summer house, while the husband was digging out the tree trunks, he dung out one tree trunk and found it to look similar to a kid / baby, therefore takes it to the shed and started to make the trunk similar as possible to a real child, and then he gave it to his wife. His wife was super happy to have a "kid". When it was time to leave, the wife was so crazy that she didn't want to leave the "baby", the husband thought that it was going over board. As they left to go back to the city, at home she was really crazy. The husband took her back to the summer house and locked her in the house along with the "baby", and left them there for a week or so. As he came back to see her, he found out that the "baby" was a live as human, sucking as a baby, gooing as a baby too. It frighten him, that he almost chopped the "baby" apart, but for the sake of his wife he didn't.

They brought the "baby" back, and the wife pretends to be pregnant for 8 months and also to give birth. Everyone in they're apartment building thought that she did have a baby. Of course after a few weeks, the "baby" ate the wife's hair. The baby became more and more hungry.

The little girl next door to them was suspicious and found out that the "baby" was not even a baby at all. She then read a book, a folk book, that told of the story of Otik, a baby like trunk that turned into a eating machine, eating everything in it's way.

Indeed after many disappearance of people that stopped by the couple's house, they locked the "baby" into a trunk in the basement. But the little girl found out and took care of it. In the end, the old lady that tendered the cabbage garden took her hoe and killed the "baby"

My Thought:

I thought that this film was really interesting but really, it was gross. Well only if the film was not filmed in this kind of way, for which it zoomed into the food, the mouths of the characters and the animation. I thought it was too much. But other than that it was also scary. I recommend others to watch it.
WARNING: DO NOT EAT BEFORE VIEWING THIS FILM ... lol

Of Love and Eggs

From Beginning to End (A Summary):

This film was directed by Garin Nugroho and released in November 2008. This film is an Indonesian film that is set in a market in Jakarta.

The film revolves in a market focusing on the family of three little children, Bimo, Asih, and Rindu, and of course pulling out the culture, religion and tradition of these kids.

With Bimo's side of the story, he helps his older brother sell eggs. Bimo is reallly troublesome, but that's only because he wants attention - especially attention from a motherly figure. From being like this, Bimo meets a young city girl and favors her as his mother figure, therefore going to her and helping her with housework. But then one day she brought a man into her house and Bimo starts to tell the man to go away and started to call the girl "Mom", frustrated she told Bimo to go home. Bimo got home and became really sad that he locked himself inside the house not letting any of his family and friends come in. Therefore Bimo's older brother brings the girl to calm him down and she did. With this Bimo's brother and the girl became closer together.

Then from Asih's side of the familly, she's left alone with her father, since her mother ran away. Asih's a strong little girl and wants no one to be in her mother's place. But her father wants her to sort of forget her mother and move on, therefore he throws away her mother's rug. but that didn't get in her way of stealing it back.  Asih's father [almost] found himself a widow with an adopted daughter, who he found some commons with her. In the end her mother came back.

As for Rindu, she in a way is retarded - basically can't really talk so well but she understands. She's an adopted daughter only, living with her mom. Ever since she was little she knows that her own older brother will one day come back for her, thus sending lots of mail on a dove to her brother (somewhere). Rindu encounters the fact that her mom wants to move into Asih's father's place and live as a family. In the end Rindu's brother indeed did come back to her bringing in the dome to their cathedral.

Family Bond:

Within this film we can see that family is a big thing in the Indonesian culture. From this film, for example, mother figure is what the kids wants the most. Not only that be the sense of having siblings there for you when you know that you have no one else.
